SPORT// ROUNDERS U14 P12 / W5 / D0 / L7 Overall a good season for the girls despite their losses. The team started well with a good win against Ampleforth, demonstrating tight fielding and powerful batting. As the term went on, the girls strengthened their tactics and communication, which resulted in better player. Their last match against U13 P11 / W5 / D1 / L5 The U13 rounders team has gone from strength to strength this season, developing in skill and tactical approach throughout the Summer Term. The girls have recorded wins against Hull Collegiate, Ashville (played in a triangular fixture), Hill House, Queen Margaret’s and in their final match against Scarborough College. There have been a number of girls involved in the rounders squad this U12 P11 / W7 / D0 / L4 The girls have had a great season and have thoroughly enjoyed there Rounder’s. Attendance at practice has been excellent and the girls have only missed sessions due to other extra- curricular commitments. They have been a pleasure to coach thanks to their 74 THE POCKLINGTONIAN St. Peters was actually their best match in terms of tactics and teamwork. The team have come up against lots of schools with big hitters and that is our weak spot. Fielding has certainly improved and a special mention must go to Charlie Groombridge, Louisa Smith and Gabby Brace for catching many a girl out. Our batting is where we need most work and the girls need to improve their accuracy and power in order to year and whilst all have made brilliant contributions there have been a few stand out performers. Player of the Season goes to Anna Wraith. Anna has been one of the most consistent performers in the field and with the bat. She has been awarded ‘Girl of the Game’ for the majority of matches after scoring a healthy number of rounders and providing the team with her invaluable fielding in the deep – which has often prevented opposition players converting half rounders to full rounders. get it further. Player of the Season: Charlie Groombridge Most Improved Player: Lucy Wedge Middle school House Rounders: Dolman Most Improved Player goes to Heidi Hawkesworth, who has particularly improved her performance with the bat. Other players to mention for their commitment to both fixtures and practice are Emily Phillips, Rosie Snelling, Phoebe Anderson, Emma Forsyth and Scarlett McMullen. The U13 girls have been an absolute pleasure to coach this season, and I hope to see them continue their success in the 2019 season.
