Overall a good season for the girls
despite their losses. The team started
well with a good win against Ampleforth,
demonstrating tight fielding and
powerful batting. As the term went
on, the girls strengthened their tactics
and communication, which resulted in

The U13 rounders team has gone
from strength to strength this season,
developing in skill and tactical approach
throughout the Summer Term. The
girls have recorded wins against
Hull Collegiate, Ashville (played in a
triangular fixture), Hill House, Queen
Margaret’s and in their final match
against Scarborough College.

THE POCKLINGTONIAN
St. Peters was actually their best match
in terms of tactics and teamwork.
The team have come up against lots
of schools with big hitters and that is
our weak spot. Fielding has certainly
improved and a special mention must go
to Charlie Groombridge, Louisa Smith
and Gabby Brace for catching many a
girl out. Our batting is where we need
most work and the girls need to improve
their accuracy and power in order to
year and whilst all have made brilliant
contributions there have been a few
stand out performers.
Player of the Season goes to Anna
Wraith. Anna has been one of the
most consistent performers in the
field and with the bat. She has been
awarded ‘Girl of the Game’ for the
majority of matches after scoring
a healthy number of rounders and
providing the team with her invaluable
fielding in the deep – which has
often prevented opposition players
converting half rounders to full
rounders.

training will see the girls improve as a
team. Well done girls on a good season,
