Based at the Marsa Sports Club playing against the formidable Harrow School in various formats of the game has been tremendous preparation for our boys, everyone has had the opportunity to play, perform and get much needed time in the middle. Our third trip to Malta has again has given the boy the opportunity to play, train and build the teams ethics in warm, dry conditions and has allowed them the best possible preparation for the forthcoming season, lets hope for some sunshine to support the forthcoming season. The highlight of the tour would have to be the drawn game against Harrow. Pocklington School’s cricketers can now practice like professionals after a new bowling machine added a whole new dimension to batting in the nets. The BOLA Junior Bowling Machine, donated by former parent Jonathan Atkinson, provides consistently accurate bowling, enabling pupils to enjoy non- stop batting practice and fun. A speed, swing and spin control system means it can be adjusted for use by pupils across the Pocklington School Foundation, during both cricket lessons and for team match preparation. Mr Atkinson’s son Jonty was 1st team 70 THE POCKLINGTONIAN He said: “Jonty enjoyed many hours practising in the nets, as well as playing for Pocklington School.
