Gastronomic Use
Medicinal Use
Any galls produced on the tree are strongly
astringent and can be used in the treatment of
haemorrhages, chronic diarrhoea, dysentery
Holm oak can be used to make flour with
their acorns by crushin them, and a we can
make bread with it. This bread is typical from
some areas of Spain.
Acorns cake
1.
• Sweet acorns
•
• 1 kg. sugar
1 kg. lard
•

• 6. eggs
2 chocolate units
4 oz. Cinnamon
•
• lemon zest
flour
Remove the skin from the acorns, blanch them and remove the skin.

Allow them to dry well and grind very finely.

Mix the ground acorns with the rest of the ingredients and knead well.

Grease a mold and crush the dough well, garnish with whole raw almonds dug
into the dough
5.
Bake until well browned

The medinical properties
of this tree come from its
wealth in tannins,
especially its acids.
Tannins play a healing
role in acclerating the
wound healing and
performing hemostasis
(stopping the flow of
bleeding).
