are pear-shaped, the color of the
pear may be green, yellow, red,
brownish depending on the variety.
The flowers are white, rarely
tinted yellow or pink, 2–4
centimetres and have five petals.
The leaves are alternately
arranged, simple, 2–12
centimetres long, glossy green on
some species, densely silvery-
hairy, leaf shape varies from
broad oval to narrow lanceolate.
