Prunus cerasus is a species of Prunus in the
subgenus Cerasus, natie to much of Europe and
soutwest Asia. It is closely related to the sweet
cherry, but has a fruit that is more acidic. Sour
cherries have high levels of melatonin and have
been used as a natural sleep aid for melatonin’s
effectiveness in regulating sleep.
