LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

DR . VICTORIA BOYD
The concept of being prepared is not new however the bigger question might be , being prepared for what ? I am excited about this issue as we explore several areas that support the concept and strategies of being prepared . As we look at three different perspectives , risk management , leadership and donor prospecting even though quite diverse in their subject matter all vital in the realm of successful or effective organizational management and systems .
One big topic that consistently is arising here at The Philantrepreneur Foundation is being prepared for leadership , specifically geared to toward leaders who are currently rising up from the millennial generation . Of which there are many right now . This is the next generation of executive directors , board of directors , trustees and more . They are the next batch of individuals to run businesses all over the nation and they ’ re in a critical development phase right now . ( after all the editorial about this generation , the world has figured out they can ’ t get rid of them , so now it ’ s time to figure out how to build them up ) was developed and encompasses the four key areas of board roles and responsibilities , Leadership , Governance , Financial Stability and Assessment . I call on my good friend and industry expert Linda Lysakowski , ACFRE to brainstorm and develop the content for the four modules and what evolved is content rich , value driven certificate program that will ensure individuals are equipped with the tools to serve and be an asset to the organization .
BBLT will accomplish several things . First it will answer the primary question that generally arises , “ What is expected of me ?” It also is designed for the wide range of people drawn to service which includes aspiring and future board members , those called upon to serve , or those with a passion for the cause which brought them to board membership . Look for the details of this exciting and valuable training now available .
However while exploring what was needed to prepare the next generation of leaders it lead us to another gap , the competency level or rather the knowledge base of current ( which includes several generations ) nonprofit board of directors in understanding the unique nuances and practices related to leading a nonprofit organization .
Then I realized this is a growth opportunity to impact current and future board of director ’ s capacity and effectiveness . Hence , Board Bound Leadership Training ,
