The Perfect Gentleman Issue 8 - Halloween | Page 20

For one thing, Jewish or not, I hope knocking on the door of strangers for candy will not be one of them. Nor that bloody severed human limbs are entreating. Another thing I would like my two tiny gentlemen to learn is that more often the not the living are much scarier than the dead will ever be. And the strange loner down the street could be more monstrous than any apocalyptic zombie that may be hiding under their bed at night. I do agree that bringing a positive spin of death, with an exception of gruesome murders, thanking our ancestors for their fruits of labour and acknowledging there journeys is a good idea. As the older generation of gentlemen have to face the passing of their beloved parents, and the younger generation their first hand experience for losing a grandparent and some untimely deaths of their friends and relatives, Halloween may be helping us all, young, old and older to deal with this natural part of life. As a Mother, not only do I carry the tremendous responsibility to teach my sons to respect the women in their lives, but also pave the way for them to raise their own sons to be the perfect gentleman.
