Body & Wardrobe Analysis
Everyone has to wear clothing . It ’ s socially and legally necessary . Though we ’ ve always dressed for protection against the elements , humans no longer wear clothing for magical or superstitious reasons . In the modern world , we dress for ego , status , and appropriateness , but as far as I ’ m concerned , our clothing should be both practical and serve us as individuals .
After a trip to hopefully a one-stop shop , all of the work we ’ ve done together comes to fruition : he is reinvented and transformed through a unique blend of fabric , colour , texture , clothing cuts , and style . He is confident , comfortable , memorable , and marketable , and ultimately , becomes the man he was meant to be . This is the beauty of image work .
A client ’ s lifestyle is key to understanding what he needs his clothes for , and we discuss this and plan a “ wish list ” on paper to build a small and efficient wardrobe , including necessary and stylish accessories , but first , my pattern-making mind is put to use during this stage of the process – I need to physically understand what I ’ m working with .
I look at a client ’ s body , no matter what size or shape it ’ s in , and measure , measure , measure . I observe the frame and think about how to offset a long torso , visually elongate a shorter leg , or even off a sloped shoulder by looking at proportion , size , and both sides of the body ( because as much as we would like to think so , we are absolutely not symmetrical ), all the while contemplating how to make this man as gorgeous as possible with particular cuts of comfortable clothing that serve him and his lifestyle .
