III. The Unveiling

In Judaism, there’s a custom. The rabbi

unveils

new gravestones, remembering and welcoming

the deceased to death.

It was around that time when he told me.

A year had passed since his lie, a little more,

and when he told me

it stood

revealed

exposed

set free.

I screamed.

And when I stopped the truth of it all was there

in front of me, like the headstone,

fresh cut and brand new. Covered

by a small square sheet.
