How do you book Yorkshire Bunkhouse?

The centre can accommodate groups of up to 20 and is available to be booked throughout the year by anyone wishing to. There is a fixed nightly rate of £150 which represents excellent value for money no matter how large or how small your group is. The only restriction that applies is Monday to Friday during term time, when we can only accept bookings from other schools and educational groups. It's location in the North York Moors National Park makes the centre ideal for family as well as corporate events. The centre is a very important part of outdoor education at the school and we woud be extremely grateful if you could let your friends, family and colleagues know that it is here and taking bookings for this summer and beyond.

Outdoor Education Update

The Spring term has seen a very busy period of outdoor education at Lady Lumley's.

The Easter break saw a team of dedicated outdoor ed students take on the challenge of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks to raise money for Meningitis Now. Getting up at the crack of dawn, we headed over to Horton in Ribblesdale to climb Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Inglebrough. Unfortunately adverse weather conditions meant we were unable to ascend the third peak. However, plans are underway to attempt the challenge again in June.

For Duke of Edinburgh Award Bronze and Silver training, the outdoor ed department saw a huge turnout of students for the 10 mile walk. Around 70 students accompanied by staff set off from the school in a loop which took in the Levisham woods. Thank you for the committment of staff and students.

Finally, since opening in December, bookings for the centre at Rosedale have continued to come in from departments and private groups. The Geography department have been using it as a base for field work, the History department have used it to hold intensive revision sessions and the Modern Foreign Languages department organised a intensive speaking practice residential where they cooked French and Spanish food.
