creative performances and public exhibitions.
The OVCRD is now taking steps towards
institutionalizing the increased RDG budget
and the expanded scope of its use.
The OVCRD has also initiated a review of the
other sources of RDG, that is, aside from the
RDG Programs of UP Diliman and UP
System. To make the RDG more aligned with
the needs of the units, a review of the RDG
policies, procedures and priorities has also
been initiated, and closer coordination with
the Office of the Vice-President for Academic
Affairs has been established.
To facilitate RDG applications,
the OVCRD has made the following forms
available on its website: application for UP
Diliman RDG, application for UP System
RDG, and Travel Report.
The OVCRD as Innovation and Technology
Support Office
In February 2012, UP Diliman entered into a
Memorandum of Agreement with the
Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines
(IPOPHL) to open and operate an Innovation
and Technology Support Office (ITSO) based
in the OVCRD. With this, OVCRD joins the
national network of ITSOs through which the
IPOPHL, in collaboration with the World
Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO),
builds “the institutional capacity of
universities, R&D entities, government field
offices, industry service providers, consultants
and associations to teach and conduct, on their
own, patent searches, patent drafting and
provide assistance in patent
prosecution” (http://itso.ph/about/).
Being designated as an ITSO is a big boost to
the expansion of OVCRD’s Technology
Transfer Program. For one, it has provided the
Program with a clear mechanism for
networking with various local and
international stakeholders in intellectual
property (IP) protection and technology
