UP Diliman standardizing the format of these three journals so that they acquire a “brand image” that is envisioned to increase their local and international visibility. The branding consists of: (1) using a uniform size for the three journals, (2) assigning to each journal a variant of one of the three colors of the University: maroon for HD, green for SD, and gold for SSD; (3) assigning to each journal a unique accent color: gold for HD, blue for SD, and violet for SSD; (4) using the same cover design and text layout for the three journals; and (5) adding a second title to the journals, i.e., Humanities Diliman: A Journal on Philippine Humanities; Science Diliman: A Philippine Journal of Pure and Applied Sciences; and Social Science Diliman: A Philippine Journal of Society and Change. The journals, however, use distinct citation formats, in accordance with the conventions of their discipline—MLA (Modern Language Association) for HD, CBE (Council of Biology Editors) for SD, and APA (American Psychological Association) for SSD. The new format was launched in the June 2013 issue of the journals. international listing and/ or accreditation of its journals. Other efforts, which the OVCRD undertook together with the editorial boards of the three journals, include the intensive review of the journals’ editorial policies and procedures, a series of campaigns for manuscript submissions, and more aggressive networking with scholars and researchers based outside UP, both local and foreign. HD has now joined the prestigious list of journals indexed in Scopus, the first and so far the only UP Diliman journal that has passed Scopus’ rigorous screening process. As a result of the BOR’s approval (in its 1288th meeting held on 20 June 2013) of the proposal to include Scopus-indexed journals in the coverage of the International Publication Award (IPA), UP-affiliated contributors to HD issues starting December 2013 qualify for the IPA. Being a Scopus-indexed journal, HD is now accredited as a Category A-1 journal by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Both SD and SSD, on the other hand, are accredited as Category A-2 journals. Like HD, both are aiming for international accreditation. These journals are published bi-annually by the University of the Philippines Diliman through the OVCRD.
