MEDITATION
MONDAYS
Jean Morton celebrated her 94th
birthday surrounded by her friends
and family!
Every other Monday
morning the residents at
The Orchards of Saxonburg
will practice mindfulness
meditation. Practicing mindfulness meditation helps
an individual become aware of their own thoughts and
feelings in the present moment.
When an individual begins to
practice mindfulness meditation,
they need to start off small and
remember to be patient with
oneself. However, if mindfulness
meditation is practiced regularly
it can have many physiological and psychological
benefits. Some physiological benefits may include
decreased stress, increased energy, and an increased
immune system, while some psychological benefits
include increased concentration and increased self
discipline.
“The goal of meditation is not to get rid of thoughts or emo-
tions. The goal is to become more aware of your thoughts and
emotions and learn how to move through them without getting
stuck. ”
