Spring 2016 How to Publicize Your Latin Club’s Events Sometimes getting the message out about your Latin Club activities may feel like one of the hardest jobs to do. Not only does the message need to be spread to all of your school’s corners, but is also must be catchy and cool so people actually come to the event. If you’re having these troubles, fear not! Here are some quick tips to make Latin Club known and cool: • Send an email out to the whole school welcoming all who are interested to each meeting. Include a blurb about what will be happening at the meeting. • At the beginning of the year, have each officer or a handful of dedicated club members make an eyecatching sign to hang up around the school. Be sure to include information like the room number and the days and times you meet. • Club meeting themes that tend to draw a larger crowd are based around Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, classics in songs/TV, service events (especially when people need to make their service requirement), etc. • Set a reminder in your school announcements! • Text your friends about the meeting, even those who don’t take Latin! You may end up “converting” them to the Latin side (we have cookies). • Offer free food at each meeting (include this on the signs). Have each officer sign up to bring in desserts, chips, or drinks. Make sure you have utensils, cups, plate, and napkins. Bring these to your meetings! People will show up! • Write a reminder for Latin Club on the chalk board in your Latin/Greek classroom(s).
