Epcot's Food & Wine Festival with kids

Cara Helms

I had never been to the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival until this year. I know, I can hardly believe it myself! So when my youngest son's birthday started getting closer, my husband and I decided we had to go this year. My youngest's favorite thing at Disney is the Living Seas at Epcot, so having the day focused in Epcot would work out perfectly. We would go and visit the undersea creatures and learn more about them, ride a few rides, and then collect our Festival passport and begin our culinary adventure around the world. It did work out pretty much just like we planned!

I did a good bit of research in the weeks leading up to our trip. One of the best resources, by far, were Samantha's Disney Lovin and Ohana streams from the festival. I learned so much that I might not have anywhere else! For example, the Tasting Sampler, which we ultimately decided against, has vouchers for 8 food or beverage items. I knew nothing about this before it was mentioned in a stream. We knew we wouldn't be getting any of the drinks, and that is the main reason we decided against the sampler. We just thought we would be able to get more food for our money than the sampler allowed. Now if you are going to be purchasing drinks, the sampler absolutely makes sense because of their higher price point. We wound up getting 14-15 food items and spent around $75 or so.

My biggest concern, as is I'm sure many parents who go to the festival with their kids, was how are the kids going to do. Are they going to eat anything? Or are they just going to watch me eat? Oh, did I type that? Yes, I did! You know its true. If you go to the festival with your kids and they don't want to eat anything,
