SUMMARY OF SEASON OFFICERS
NYS production continues to increase .
The number of reported taps was up 9 %, the production per tap increased significantly , giving a yield 18 % higher than 2016 . our members reported the season to be very erratic . All over NY there was little to no snow cover , and members tapped as early as mid-January and had production start two

weeks earlier than typical . A mid-March heat wave threatened to end production early , but the only casualties were the lower Hudson valley and southern central New York .
After that heat spell , production continued well into April , making it one of the longer seasons in recent history .
