We Who Love The Woods and Camping Are The Spirit Keepers
Pennacook Lodge’s Role in Camp Promotion
The Order of the Arrow was founded on a small scout camp on the Delaware Valley by a Camp Director and
his assistant in an effort to recognize honor campers. Since the conception of our organization, camping
has been at its core. A principal piece of the purpose of the Order of the Arrow is to “Promote camping,
responsible outdoor adventure, and environmental stewardship.”
As Pennacook Lodge defines its place as an integral part of the Spirit of Adventure Council, the youth who
lead it recognize that camping is an important component in making that happen. Under the leadership of
the Camping Traditions Block, Pennacook Lodge is committed to promoting camping as a year-round
activity and as a critical part of every Scout’s experience. Pennacook is determined to get scouts to camp
by promoting the Northern NeXus of Adventure; Wah-Tut-Ca, T.L. Storer, and Parker Mountain because
“there’s nothing like a Spirit of Adventure camp”.
As the Spirit of Adventure culture of camping is developed, the Order of the Arrow will be serving as the
“ground team” for promoting camping at the unit level; and getting people exciting for what will be one of
the most incredible summer camp programs nationwide.
