The New Jersey Police Chief Magazine | April 2019 EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S REPORT MITCHELL C. SKLAR A Point of Personal Privilege The Executive Director’s Report from the April 1999 New Jersey Police Chief Magazine began with this sentence: “Earlier this month, I received the honor of being selected as the Association’s new Executive Director.” With those words, I introduced myself to our Association’s membership 20 years ago, and with your indulgence I would like to use this, the April 2019 Executive Director’s Report, to express my deep pride and gratitude for being given the tremendous honor of serving as this Association’s Executive Director. I am truly grateful and humbled for the opportunity to be associated with this exceptional organization, and to work with such a dedicated and talented membership. I am thankful for the support and hard work of our Board of Officers (past and present), as well as for the hard work and dedication of our State Association staff. So much has occurred over the past two decades that I will not take the time (or try your patience) with a string of memories or “thank-you's.”) Instead, I will end this month’s message with the exact words that I ended that first Executive Director’s Report 20 years ago: “I am proud to be associated with the New Jersey Chiefs of Police, and I look forward to working with all of you in the months and years ahead.” Mitchell C. Sklar, Esq. Executive Director The NJSACOP sends its sincerest condolences to the family of: Chief John Murphy Retired Life Member 4
