As the calendar moves headlong into 2018 , our Association will soon be in the heart of the programming calendar . February ( 1 st ) and March ( 1 st ) start off with our monthly State Chiefs Briefing at the DoubleTree Hotel , in Tinton Falls . Shortly thereafter the NJSACOP will be presenting this year ’ s New Police Chiefs Orientation ( March 5 , 6 , 7 & 12 , 13 , 14 , at the Monmouth Co . Public Safety Center in Freehold ). All chiefs who have taken office within the past year are encouraged to register for this important and informative course . Later that month ( March 27th ) is a special presentation on the “ Stockwell Shooting ” at Stockton University .
April will begin , as always , with the State Chiefs Briefing at the DoubleTree Hotel ( April 5 th ). On April 11 th , the NJSACOP Command & Leadership Alumni Association will be hosting a 1-Day Leadership Experience , including a Paoli Battlefield and Valley Forge Staff Ride Experience . As of this writing there are still some spots open for registration for this unique program . Towards the end of the month we will be conducting the 17 th NJSACOP Police Executive Institute at the National Conference Center / Holiday Inn in East Windsor . As usual , this very popular course has been sold out for several months , and a waiting list has been established . There is still room , however , for registrations for the Special 1-day Seminar Featuring Dr . Kevin Gilmartin ( April 18 th ).
May kicks off with the State Chiefs Briefing at the DoubleTree Hotel ( May 3 rd ). On May 22 nd we commemorate Police Memorial Day in New Jersey . On that solemn day the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police and the New Jersey Police Chiefs Foundation host the annual Statewide Law Enforcement Memorial Service for law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty in the State of New Jersey . On this day we honor the past heroes who have given their lives so courageously . We pay tribute and remember valiant men and women and reflect on their contributions to us . As all who have ever attended this program can attest , this is a special day for those of us in New Jersey ’ s law enforcement family . This tribute was the first Memorial Service held statewide in the United States . As always , we will hold this service at the National Historic Site of the Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove , New Jersey on Tuesday , May 22 , 2018 at 11:00 a . m . This is truly an important day for all law enforcement in New Jersey , as well as for the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice . Please make every effort to attend , and to have as many of your personnel join you as possible . Your honor guards are also welcome to participate . If you would like to have your honor guards play a role in the program , contact the NJSACOP State Office .
Also in May , our registered delegates will be heading overseas for the NJSACOP “ Normandy / D-Day ” Leadership Experience ,” a cornerstone of our Association ’ s dynamic and cutting-edge experiential leadership learning courses .
On Thursday , June 6 th we are back at the the DoubleTree Hotel for the June State Chiefs Briefing . The end of the month marks the start of the highlight event of our year , the 106 th Annual NJSACOP Training Conference ( June 25 – 28 ). As usual , we begin this year ’ s conference with our Host Chiefs Night reception ( Monday , June 25 th ). Tuesday the 26 th and Wednesday the 27 th will be our excellent training sessions , followed on Wednesday , June 27 th by the Installation Banquet . In addition to installing our Board of Officers for the coming year , we also present our NJSACOP Valor Awards and other awards recognizing important achievements and contributions to the Association .
Concurrent with our Conference ( Tuesday & Wednesday , June 26 & 27 ), our Association will be sponsoring the Annual Police Security Expo 2018 , which will take place in the “ state of the art ” Atlantic City Convention Center . The Police Security Expo is heralded as a “ supermarket of information ” displaying the latest technology to “ serve and protect ”. As you know , there is no admission fee to attend , and is open to industry professionals . Our Expo is one of the largest in the nation in size , and is second to none in quality . In addition to the exhibitors , special seminar programs and product demonstrations are scheduled in convenient time slots , to insure the value of your time spent at the Expo .
We also have a full slate of other courses and seminars focused on the issues and topics that are most pressing for today ’ s police executives . They can all be found on our excellent Association homepage , www . njsacop . org .
And that just brings us to the start of summer . The autumn is just as full of programing of great value and importance to our members and stakeholders .
The support of our members in registering themselves or their personnel ( as appropriate ) not only provides great value for our departments , but also help enable the NJSACOP to do all of the important work on behalf of police chiefs and the policing profession in our state that has been a bedrock of our reputation for over a century .
I look forward to seeing you at all of our State Chiefs Briefings and other fine and important programs .
