105 Years Ago – January 1913 The NJSACOP Monthly State Chiefs Meeting for January 1913 was held in Westfield , NJ . Vice President Frank Monahan occupied the chair . As recorded in the minutes
Owing to the death of our late president George C . Tenney no official business be transacted . Vice President Frank Monahan occupied the chair and confirmed the following resolutions .
Resolved that members of the Association meet at Police Headquarters Elizabeth , at eight-thirty AM and attend the funeral as a body .
65 Years Ago – January 1953 The NJSACOP Monthly State Chiefs Meeting for January 1953 was held in Lyndhurst , NJ . During the report of the Association ’ s Committees , Traffic Committee Chair Matthew Bolger presented a Resolution which read , in part :

WHEREAS : The New Jersey State Association of Chiefs assembled in formal meeting in Lyndhurst , New Jersey , Recognizes the importance of complete knowledge of the law and Court Procedure in the adjudication of traffic cases ….

RESOLVED : That this Association hereby requests that the Attorney-General of the State of New Jersey cause to be prepared a manual of the proper procedure to be followed in the arrest and prosecution of persons violating the provisions of Title 39 of the Revised statutes as amended and supplemented , and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED : That a copy of such manual be distributed to all police officers throughout the State .
15 Years Ago – January 2003 The NJSACOP Monthly State Chiefs Meeting for January 2003 was held at the Middlesex County Fire Academy in Sayreville , NJ . Captain John Hunt of the NJ State Police addressed the membership , and in particular “ thanks were conveyed for the Association ’ s support after the loss of Trooper Chris Scales ; the family was overwhelmed by the response .”
Executive Director Sklar informed the membership that the NJSACOP Law Enforcement Agency Accreditation Program was now operational , and that information would be disseminated to all law enforcement agencies in the State .
This month in NJSACOP history ….. JANUARY
1980 The Association formally adopted the policy that no application for Active Membership in the NJSACOP will be acted upon without the endorsement of the relevant County Police Chiefs Association .
2002 Executive Director Sklar announced that the Association had launched an internet homepage , and could be found at www . njsacop . org .
2007 It was announced that the election taking place later in the year would be the last for the position of NJSACOP 5 th Vice President ; in subsequent years , a new Board position – Vice President at Large – would replace the position of 5 th Vice President .
