GUBBEI MAPLE SHADE PD Chief Gary Gubbei started with the Maple Shade Police Department in April of 1981, where after graduating the Burlington County Police Academy, he was assigned to the Patrol Division. In 1988, Chief Gubbei was assigned to the Detective Bureau. In 1998 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, successively holding the rank of Detective Sergeant and Investigations Lieutenant. He was subsequently promoted to Captain, a rank within the department which had been a vacant position for over twenty years. In 2010 he was promoted to the rank of Chief of Police. Prior to his promotion, Chief Gubbei was the fourth Vice President of the New Jersey State PBA, along with serving as President of Tri-State Criminal Investigators, an organization that encompassed the state of New Jersey, Penn- sylvania, and Delaware. He also served as President of the Burlington County 200 Club. In 2014 Chief Gubbei tasked Maple Shade Police Captain Christopher Fletcher with starting the Maple Shade Police Department’s first-ever Chaplain Program. Chief Gubbei is the first police chief from Burlington County to be selected as President of the New Jersey State Chiefs of Police Association. 3
