ENTERTAINMENT & EVENTS THE NIGERIAN VOICE 7 September 2013 1st of September, 2013 will always be a day to remember for Mr. and Mrs. Charles Amagba as they hosted the very first birthday of their daughter, Miss Chidera Christabel Amagba at the Cathedral Hall of Christ the King Catholic Church (cathedral). The occasion was graced by the presence of the Nigerian community in South Africa. Notable personalities and friends rallied around the couple to celebrate with them in grand style. Among those present were the Eze Ndigbo South Africa, members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo South Africa, Imo Union, members of Ochasiato Family Meeting, Orlu Zonal, special guests, family and friends. Speaking with the Nigerian Voice Newspaper, the host, Mr. Charles Amagba gave the reason for his daughter's big birthday celebration; “I threw a party for her because she is my first child in marriage that is why I decided to make it big”. The Son of Mrs. Celina Amagba, the celebrant's grandmother (also present at the occasion), wished her grand-daughter “long life, prosperity and more years”. “I wish her wisdom and success”. Mr. Amagba who holds several positions within associations in the Nigerian Community in South Africa said that “Nigerians are supportive” here in South Africa. Mr. Amagba is the chairman Ochasito Family Meeting, Treasurer Orlu Zonal Welfare, Protocol Officer Ohaneze Ndigbo South Africa, Treasurer Royal Brothers Committee of Friends and Treasurer Genius friends club. Insisting that “Nigerians are supportive” here in South Africa, he appreciated all those that were present at the occasion “I thank everyone that came today and all that couldn't make it. I wish them safe journey back home. I wish them good luck in everything they do” In addition, his wife Mrs. Chineye Christain Amagba speaking about the event “this is a life changing event; it's something we have been looking forward to.” She expressed that the motivation for the event was because “it's her birthday, her first birthday. You know what it is like celebrating her first birthday. It is a big day for her. She just turned one today”. The elated mother, an indigene of Anambra State insisted that her daughter, the celebrant “is a treasure to us”, which is part of why we had to make it a super one”. She wished her daughter “long life, a bright future” and hopes she becomes “an obedient and God fearing child”. “Nigeria is a God gifted nation and Nigeria is blessed. I am happy to be a Nigerian. Here in South Africa, Nigerians are dominating. It's a place you come to enjoy. Nigerians here are supportive, they come here; they make it” she stated. In her final words she noted, “I appreciate everyone that make up their time here to celebrate with us. It's not easy to come and support us. I thank them all. I wish them good luck in all their endeavors”. The event was very successful, a reflection of Mazi, Uchenna Obioha (the event planner) planning and organizational ingenuity. Also on hand to add musical flavor to the occasion was the musical band called “Jesus Friends”. The band made the celebration a melodious one.
