OBESITY! A HEALTH HAZARD!!

Obesity has reached epidemic
proportion in our society and
has a serious impact on our
overall health and lifespan.
Being overweight doesn't
mean you are obese! But, it can
lead to obesity in a short period
of time. Being overweight
simply explained means, you
have more body weight
considered for your health,
age, height and sex.
What really is obesity, and why
is this generation getting
bigger and bigger by the day?
Obesity is actually a medical
condition, which is associated
with having excess body fat
that has accumulated to the
extent that it has devastating
effects on good health leading
to homeostasis problems and
reduced life expectancy! This
condition occurs when we eat
and drink more calories than
we burn through exercise and
daily activities.
Obesity is not a cosmetic
problem but a health hazard!
Studies have shown that our
brains have been wired to
encourage the consumption of
rich calorie filled foods. This
happens because of two parts
of a brain called orbit frontal
cortex and nucleus accubens.

They become activated and
light up when we see and taste
these rich fatty foods, and can
cause us to develop an
addiction! Hence to avoid and
limit processed food, there are
many factors related to obesity
epidemic! These factors
include:
Genetics - genes can affect
the amount of stored body
fat and its distribution, as
well as how quickly we
burn calories during
exercise.
