Pukeko

Though many New Zealanders believe the Pukeko is endemic, it is actually common over much of the world. As well as New Zealand, they are found in Europe, Australia, Africa and Asia. They are among our most familiar birds, and have won Forest & Birds 'Bird Of The Year Award'.
