The enforcement of these laws has not been very successful leading to what is now called "Bootlegging" or the illegal manufacturing and selling of alcohol. George Remus, the man pictured on the left is one of these "Bootleggers". Remus is a lawyer that specialiszes in criminal defense and has seen that his clients have been getting very rich very fast. Remus has made $40 million, with the help of his trusted number two man George Conners. He owns one of the most famous distilleries the Fleischmann Distillery.
