is, I think, the ultimate goal of any social work field education, and of course, the essence of almost all professions and sciences alike. References Kretzman, J. P., & McKnight, J. L. (1993). An introduction to community development. New York: Routledge. Mukerem Mifta Shafi, MSW, was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He studied sociology and social anthropology in the undergraduate program of Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. Immediately after completing his BA degree with a distinction point in July 2009, he was assigned by the Ministry of Education, Ethiopia, to teach at Jigjiga University, Ethiopia. In this university, he served as an instructor and taught many courses in the department of sociology from 2009 to 2010. Following this, he had the opportunity to pursue his master’s degree at Addis Ababa University. Given his prior interest in social welfare and social policy, he decided to study social work with a specialization in family, youth, and children at Addis Ababa University, where he received his MSW in 2012. He has written articles for a local English magazine called Addis Standard and also serves as a co-chair for a local book review club organized by Islamic Research and Cultural Center (IRCC) in Addis Ababa. He and ten close friends founded an NGO, Muslim Graduates Initiative for Education and Training (MGIET), in Addis Ababa.
