Fire Lash (Tier 2) allows to you reach out to any fire present, perhaps simply the flame from a lighter, and bring into existence a wieldable 15-foot long whip of dancing flames that strikes opponents inflicting both fire damage and excruciating pain. Unlike a physical whip the movement is controlled by your mind and as such does not require any Skill with a whip. Although unnecessary many practitioners physically mimic the use of a real whip. As you increase in Rank you become able to project the “handle” of the whip at a distance. Concentration: Prerequisite: Life Energy cost: Effect: Active, Interruptible Fire source present to initiate, not maintain. 20 per round. Minimum Life Energy use 20. Requires an Action check to strike the target, with Success chance the same as if an Expert were wielding a real whip. An attempt can be made to grasp the target with the whip at a -30% penalty. Your target suffers (d10 x Rank) points of damage per strike (one per round). If grasped, then no Action check is required, and subsequent damage is an automatic 10 per Rank. The target can attempt to break your grasp. Any intervening material reduces the damage per Rank (sustaining the damage instead): Cloth -1, Leather, -2, and other forms of Armor -4. Dark Flame (Tier 3) forms a blazing sphere of black flames between your hands while all around you the temperature plummets. Once thrown the sphere grows as it travels, becoming more diffuse as it goes, until it strikes your selected target point. Despite being characterized as “flames” they do not produce any visible light and cannot be seen by normal means in darkness. Concentration: Life Energy cost: Effect: Intense 50 per use. Range 10 feet per Rank. 100 points of damage - distance travelled; at point blank the damage would be 100, at 10 feet 90 damage, within 20 feet 80 damage, etc. Possible number of targets (within a group as determined by the GM) affected = range/10; at 10 feet a single target sustains damage, at 20 feet 2, at 30 feet 3, and so on. At 30 feet 3 targets within a group would each take 70 points of damage. Any intervening material reduces the total damage each target sustains (sustaining the damage instead): Cloth -10, Leather, -20, and other forms of Armor -40. Page 55
