Situation Report - Berlin (Source: SOE, Date: 20 th October 1949) The overwhelming destruction of Berlin by the Allies, their subsequent withdrawal from the occupied city, disease, extreme cold, and other unbearable hardships have caused a mass population exodus. All that is left is a desolate ruin and a small sanctuary zone, less than 2 square miles in size, centered on the Reich Chancellery building, that is reported under absolute ODESSA control. For those that continue to eke out a meager existence in the rubble of the rest of the city scavenging is a way of life. That or desperate attempts to steal from the ODESSA trucks transporting food and other goods. The former supplementing that from the local parks, now converted to farmland, and worked during the short growing months by ODESSA conscripted workers. Britain’s official position, due to the number of potential civilian deaths that would result from any type of large military (bombing) operation, is one of non- engagement. However, unofficially the fear is that any direct confrontation with ODESSA would precipitate Psycrafter or even NecroMech assassination of high ranking officials. If Stalin and Hoover were not safe, then no one is. Beyond the above-ground rebuilding, observed in this area through aerial reconnaissance, several Special Operations Executive action reports also indicate extensive below ground construction. The included intelligence photographs also indicate Meta-engineered weapons and armor in use by ODESSA patrols providing them with overwhelming advantage over those they encounter. A fact that the SOE, unfortunately, did not anticipate. Locations of continued interest include Prinz- Albrecht-Straße 8, headquarters for the Schutzstaffel or SS, Although the above-ground buildings were destroyed by Allied bombing in early 1945 an extensive basement complex remains. Inaccessible through normal means it is believed to hold a massive repository of Nazi files. Page 32
