Valerie Dunn , devoted girlfriend of pilot Anthony Eyre who was killed in a plane crash February 1946. Anthony spent over 3 years as a POW in Stalag Luft III at Sagan in Silesia, where he helped with the tunnels eventually leading to “the Great Escape” of many of his friends, but alas, and maybe fortuitously, not himself. He eventually returned to Valerie in England in May 1945 where they were immensely happy for the 9 months prior to his death. Valerie is an accomplished pilot herself, flying for the Air Transport Auxiliary and in an ironic twist she becomes a pilot for Hawker Siddeley Aviation, the creators of the plane in which Anthony was accidently killed. By 1950 she is regularly flying between the newly re-opened Hawker Aircraft factory at RAF Squires Gate in Blackpool and Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey. From the aerodrome it is a quick 90-minute trip in her pride-and-joy, a 1947 red Triumph 1800 Roadster, to her permanent flat on Archer Street, just a short distance from the club. Valerie, a Meta Engineer , has a tattoo just above her right hip bone of a heart at the center of a Hawker Tempest prop with all four blades broken. Emilia Smith , singer at the club who like Madame “G”, albeit to a lesser degree, possesses Shadow Weaver Talents. A tattooed chain of 7 hearts wraps around Emilia’s upper left arm to commemorate the loss of her entire family to a V1 bombing raid that demolished their home in Aldwych. Grégoire Daguerre , a talented engineer who worked at the SNCASO aircraft factory in Château-Bougon, outside of Nantes, before being conscripted to work at Heinkel’s Rostock headquarters in early 1943. However, his wife who also worked at SNCASO is killed not soon after he leaves by an Allied air forces bombing raid in September. In 1945, as the Russian forces advance through Germany, Grégoire, with no other family to return to, manages to escape through Denmark to Britain. A chance meeting with Madame G gains him employment for the re-build of the bombed-out Café de Paris as well as the start of an on- and-off-again intimate relationship “of convenience”. After the rebuild that includes the Order’s basement level Grégoire spends a great deal of time working with Valerie on various “engineering projects”. Grégoire’s loyalty to the group is unwavering. A pet peeve that has caused many incidents is the fact that he does not like to be called Greg or Gregory! Page 231
