FOR THE FIFTY
As the season is drawing to a close there is one jockey who is all out to break a record, Peter Buchanan is on target to go through the 50 winners barrier for a season for the first time, and he will be having a real go to achieve it.
Peter Buchanan is no different to any other jockey, they all want winners, but the 2013/14 season has seen Peter move to within one winner of his best ever total (45) and with six weeks to go he has that 50 winner mark in his sights.
Peter may have ridden in over 3,500 races and booted home over 340 winners and nearly 600 places with over £1.8m in prizemoney but it would be very satisfying for him to get that 50.
There are never any targets set by jockeys but the closer he gets to that 50 the more determined he will be to achieve it, with the Scottish National meeting & Perth Festival still to go we know he will be supported by Lucinda and other trainers to achieve a great season and maybe a Grand National ride would top it off.
