I have really enjoyed using Popplet in my classroom! This app can be used in any subject but I love to use it for ELA as brainstorming or review. This mind-mapping tool allows students to create a visual representation of their knowledge. My students love using Popplet! It gives them a way to creatively show what they know. They can type, add pictures or videos, and show the relationships between items on the board. URLs can also be made clickable so it is easy for students to cite online sources. On Popplet, you can let students work independently or with a group. If working in groups, I like to have each student choose a color for the boxes they contributed. This makes the board more colorful and quickly lets me see how much each student is participating.

There are many public Popplets students can use as inspiration or research as well as example Popplets provided to show the different ways boards could look. I used the example Napoleon: History to show my students one way they could present their research project on a famous Native or African American.

Unfortunately, the free Popplet app is very limited. You are only allowed one Popplet which means you would have to delete your last board every time you wanted to make a new one. The free web version is much better, offering 10 boards. If you purchase the app or subscribe online you get unlimited boards.

One great thing about Popplet is that if your whole school wants to use this product, there is special pricing that takes into account how many students you are purchasing for.
