MAY 2018 Page 7 ARTS and ENTERTAINMENT Marty Jones G o Dawgs. As I write this, we are just a couple of days away from G-Day. It will be a great day to celebrate our team and enjoy being in Athens. G-Day is just part of what will be going on with UGA sports this weekend. Both of our Ladies’ Golf Teams and Tennis Teams will be at the respective SEC Championships during the weekend of the 21st. Also competing will be the Gym Dogs at the NCAA Championships. Our Equestrian team is also FOODING FUCHS G ood morning, Good afternoon, or Good evening readers depending on your preferred reading time. It’s 1/2 of your favorite duo the Fooding Fuchs here to tell you about our new restaurant of the month. While you may feel an onset of Déjà Vu, I assure it’s not. This month’s incredibly tasty restaurant is Nana’s Chicken and Waffles. You may be saying to yourself, “but Jason, didn’t you write about a chicken and waffle dish competing in their N C A A Championships in WACO. On the Men’s side, the last weekend in April will have both the Tennis and Golf teams competing in their SEC Championships. Still with games to play our #6 ranked Ladies’ Softball and our streaking Baseball teams. G-Day gets top billing. My hopes for G-Day are maybe different from yours. My #1 hope is that there are no serious injuries. My #2 hope is that we fill the place up. My #3 hope is that everyone has a great time. #4-10, again no last month?” I sure did, but the dish is so nice I’ll do it twice. Nana’s is located next to Storage Time in Conyers. They opened about a year and a half ago, and they haven’t stopped serving delicious food since. They are open for Breakfast and Lunch. Make note that closing time is at 4 pm. If you stop by on the weekend, just know this place is popping. It is, however, worth those few short minutes of waiting. Nana’s pays homage to both of their families roots in Louisiana and Maryland by fusing both styles of cuisine. To top it off, they then throw in a little southern flair. Talkin’ Trash serious injuries. You want more? Yes, it will be nice to see who is playing with the 1’s on the O-Line, D-line, and D-backfield. More important might be who is running with the 2’s. Those guys in many situations get 30-40% of the snaps; if you are deep, you can’t survive the long season. See you in Athens soon. Going to be a special time. h, swell. The “brain trust” on the Flats have signed Paul Johnson to a two-year extension on his contract. So, he’s our coach through 2022. That’s just great. Five more years of mediocrity. Last three seasons have been 3-9, 9-4 and 5-6. Instead of signing him to an extension, they should have put him on version of fried chicken NANA’S CHICKEN AND WHAT! is most popular in smoked bacon. This history. The waffle appetizer was chosen by my 5-year-old who was in shock that there was such a thing as a green tomato. He wasn’t disappointed, and neither was I. The tomatoes were tart and fried crispy outside. The pimento cheese was beautifully melted on top, and the smokiness from the bacon helped finish it quite nicely. For the entrée as I’ve mentioned before, I went for the surprise me approach. To our new readers, if you’ve never asked your server to surprise you with a dish when they take your order, try it. Unlike some of my friends, I found myself pulling for him as Sunday’s round drew near. Considering all the negative posts and texts I received Sunday morning there seemed to be issues with his past. Not knowing all the details, he was expelled from UGA golf team. I’m sure it was warranted, but I’m a firm believer in second chances. Good Job Sir. Begin hitting draws sooner than later. Set the grip in the base of your fingers not angled across your palm. It’s more in your fingers. You’ll able to swing freely and easily close the club- face. That’s what will cause the ball to draw. As you know everyone’s swing is a little different, and that’s ok but try to finish your follow thru on your toes versus holding back and finishing on your heels. That being said, I wouldn’t call Patrick Reed a Monkey. I noticed Patrick hitting the biggest cut drive right down the middle when the pressure was on. I just love the swing tracker.
