GNOME (pronounced /ɡəˈnoʊm/) is a desktop environment—a graphical user interface which runs on top
of a computer operating system—composed entirely of free software.
HEAT CONDUCTION is the transfer of thermal energy between regions of matter due to a temperature
gradient. Heat always flows from a region of higher temperature to a region of lower temperature, and
results in the elimination of temperature differences by establishing thermal equilibrium.
DIODES are the basic building blocks for most semiconductor devices. They are part of the bipolar family
of devices. Diodes consist of two semiconductor materials, one doped with a deficiency of electrons called
p-type material, and the other side is doped with an extra abundancy of electrons called n-type material.
REDUCING ELBOW is a hose fitting that joins two pieces of pipe of different sizes. It is like a reducing
piece and elbow combined into one. Reducing elbow hoses have different sized openings on each end.
They are available in different materials (polyester reinforced- in 3 ply, 4 ply or 5 ply, fluorosilicone lined
for fuel and oil etc), finishes (gloss, matte etc) and colors.
CO2 LASERS with carbon dioxide gas as the active medium. Their emission wavelength is 10,600 nm (far
infrared). These lasers are operated in continuous-wave and pulsed modes. The laser energy can be
delivered to the tissue through a hand-piece or through a rigid non-fiber-optic endoscope or adapted to an
operating microscope.
