COUNTING BY Mark Gmur, CWE I t was 2006, when Lisa and I started talking family expansion. We were living in Honolulu at the time. Three years and three babies later, we had started the business, and were living in Novato (Marin County), just north of San Francisco, about half way to wine country. My first job in Hawai’i was as Director of Beverage for the Hilton Waikoloa on the Big Island. After that, you might say I switched gears. I went to work at one of Hawaii’s biggest distributors, working my way up to Vice President of Sales, On Premise. I had also developed the passion for the grape, and pursued my wine studies through the American Sommelier Association, Court of Master Sommeliers and Society of Wine Educators. It all made sense. My business idea allowed me to combine all the things I knew and loved; hotels, restaurants, wine distribution and of course, wine itself. Amazing! Working with the team has been so easy and flawless. The knowledge of wine, their stories, education, and the industry comes through in every way. MWG captures the essence of our Brand, and we look forward to many more years of partnership and sharing a glass or two. (or more). Cheers!
