R NEW Now, working with Vintage Wine Estates, the seasoned team works “to make the world’s greatest whiskey. Or at the very minimum, the best whiskey made by people that make great wine!” Whip Saw Rye is deep, rich & complex, exhibiting a unique flavor profile all brought in balance by the French Oak barrels. American craftmanship defined: tradition, innovation & perfection. SUMMER 2018 oots Run Deep Winery was founded in 2005 to produce unparalleled wine from the Napa Valley. The winery has just expanded their offerings with the new Educated Guess North NEW Coast Cabernet Sauvignon to allow them to offer an even more competitive Cabernet by-the-glass price, but they have not sacrificed the quality one bit. The initial release of the 2016 North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon opens with concentrated aromas of dark berries, plums, and a hint of cracked peppercorn. Primary Cabernet grape sourcing comes from the famed Beckstoffer Crimson Ridge Vineyard, as well as Oakville vineyard sources farmed by the Laird family, located between Groth and Rudd wineries. The name “Educated Guess” came about during a lively, second bottle of wine conversation about winemaking styles, vineyard sites, and the progressive escalation of wine prices without comparable increases in quality. The discussion then proceeded to the “art vs. science” aspect of winemaking and after a few more glasses of wine… “Educated Guess” was born! - Founder Mark Albrecht. v oming off great success of the initial release of Straight Edge Bourbon & Slaughter House American Whiskey, the winemaker team of Steve Matthiason and Bob Cabral recently launched their newest member of the Splinter Group collective, Whip Saw Rye. Known for their inventive approach to creating top notch whiskeys through the use of their ‘experienced’ French Oak wine barrels, Whip Saw is certainly no exception to their success. Continuing with what started as a casual conversation between founding winemaker, Dave Phinney & whiskey aficionado, John Wilkinson, Steve & Bob are considered the alchemists, magicians, mavericks and makers who bring Whip Saw to life through numerous experimentations.
