The group included Mark and Lisa Gmur, Mark and Sue Bickford (Mark is President of Corporate Services Solutions), Mike and Sue Gillespie, (Mike is Senior VP at Sodexo) and Dave and Brenda Hatcher (Dave is VP). The next morning we hit the hills of Soave with a tour,of the most prestigious vineyards in Soave and a tour of the caves beneath Rocca Sveva winery and a lovely lunch with a fabulous line up of Soave, Ripasso Valpolicella and Amarones. FRIULI From Soave we headed north to Friuli where we stayed Terra e Vini, and drove to the town of Goruzia, just two kilometers from the Italian border with Slovenia, for dinner. The next morning was our tasting at Livio Felluga with Filippo Felluga, followed by that magical lunch in Cormons at Al Giardinetto . After lunch our beautiful host Alice (pronounced "Alichay") directed our very talented driver, Alfredo, through the charming towns and hillside vineyards of Friuli. We finally arrived at Abbazia di Rosazzo, the “monastery of the roses,” an abbey believed to have been constructed around 800. We got a glimpse of its famous roses which were just starting to bloom.
