Stop along the way in Brownville Junction to inspect the old blast furnace and kiln at the remains of Katahdin Iron Works. An afternoon on the Growler Bus is a great way to sample the Bangor area’s many breweries and learn about the art of crafting beer. Follow your brewery tour with a walk in the Bangor City Forest and Orono Bog Boardwalk, where you’ll feel relaxed and a million miles away from the bustle of the city as you observe migratory birds and delicate bog plants. THE STEAMBOAT KATAHDIN ("Kate" as the locals know her) is on the National Register of Historic Places and is the only remaining steamship on Moosehead Lake, where once these vessels were the only mode of transport to remote camps and resorts. Three-hour sightseeing cruises depart at 12:30 most days.
