'And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and his gestation and weaning [period] is thirty months. [He grows] until, when he reaches maturity and reaches [the age of] forty years, he says, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims."' (46:15) Ruling on ‘tatbir’ By: HussainTheShortcomer [Kamal AlZiyarat [144] (129/1) Vol1: Hussain (pbuh) was with his mother (pbuh) and she was carrying him, then the Messenger of Allah (pbuhaf) took him and said: "Allah curse your killers, and Allah curse the ones who deprived you, and Allah destroy the ones who placed a burden over you, and Allah will judge between me and between those who helped (the oppressors) against you". Then Fatimah (pbuh) said: "O my father which thing are you talking about", he said: "O my daughter, I remembered what will afflict him after me and after you from the injuries and oppression and betrayal and tyranny, and on that day he will be with a company that are like the stars of the sky composed towards death, and it is as if I am looking at their camp and at the scene of their travel and their ground (they are on)." On the 10th of Muharam, the Day of Ashura, Muslims all around the world remember the massacre of Imam Hussain (pbuh), his relatives, small children, his righteous companions and the persecution of his women. Although this is mostly a Shia tradition there are many Sunnis who partake in this as well. Part of the mourning for Imam Hussain (pbuh) is ‘latmiya’ which is striking the chest with one’s hand to share in the anguish of what he and his company were facing, from the deprivation of food and water, to the massacre that followed. This is a great way to mourn for this great Martyr that made the ultimate sacrifice, not only his own life, but his children and relatives and closest companions, may God rest their souls in peace.
