‘Guidance all around us:
the silent language of
God’
Never do we take a step alone, nor shall we ever find our selves alone with a difficult decision to make, provided that we exercise trust and
reliance on Our Lord in every aspect of our life. For Allah (SWT) is Faithful, He shall show us the way, 'Trust in the Lord with all your
heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths' (Proverbs
3:5,6), 'The Lord will guide you always' (Isaiah 58:11).
So now one must wonder; if Our Creator always offers His servants guidance on a righteous path; why is it that we feel so lost and helpless
at times? And why is it that we find ourselves desperately pleading with Allah (SWT) for the answer? Certainly the answer is always given to
us, and is as simple as paying closer attention to our surroundings, and daily events. Guidance is all around us, but in order for one to
perceive it, one must change the way they look at absolutely everything. For indeed, once one changes the way they look at things, the things
they are looking at will begin to change. Hence why we find our beloved Imam Ahmad Al-Hassan (AS) saying; 'May you see God in
everything, with everything, after everything and before everything, until you realize God, and the veil comes uncovered so
you see things all by God, and evidences won't be your lead to the evident, but the evident is the lead to evidences.'
So once we come to the realization that Our Merciful Creator speaks to us through absolutely
everything and He is the force controlling absolutely everything, it is inevitable for us to finally
see, thus the veil will become lifted. Ultimately leading to the understanding of the silent
language God uses to point us in the right direction. This silent language is signs and symbols in
the world, and in following these signs God has left for us it is certain that one will find the way to
God. As Paulo Coelho said; 'In order to find the treasure, you will have to follow the
omens. God has prepared a path for everyone to follow. You just have to read the
omens that he left for you.'
The purpose and significance of following these signs is to lead us on the path that Our Lord
wants us to be on. 'Verily, there are signs for those who reflect' (30:21). Our Creator is Most
Merciful, 'And if you count Allah's favors, you will not be able to number them' (14:34),
'My Mercy encompasses all things' (7:156), and He (SWT) has paved the way for His
unworthy servants. How simple for us to listen and follow. These signs are a great mercy upon us,
because they draw our attention to God,
they assist with difficult decisions, offer strength in times of languish, comfort in times
of distress and provide certainty in times of doubt.
Indeed, Allah (SWT) is always with us, accompanying each of us on our specific
journeys and speaking guidance along the way. So we must follow the leadings and
promptings that have been set forth for us, and w
