The artistic gestures of Shimamoto have a dual factor: an exterior on which nothing he can do, if not passively undergoing the events, like the bombings who accidentally broke unarmed people and that they casually destroyed buildings; the other factor that triggers the creative act is the energy of "KI", of the "vital breath" of energy flowing in a continuous exchange between the mind, the body, nature and the real world.
So the gesture of throwing buckets of color on the canvas in a completely random way, it can be interpreted in two closely related ways: the physical dissolution, the tearing of human bodies and the destruction of his world, they are opposed to the vital energy of "KI" which is expressed in the rituality of the gesture, in the fury and impetus of the samurai to create the conditions for rebirth, for a new life.
