The randomness of the gesture in the execution of a canvas has very deep roots, often intimate, but in the case of Shozo Shimamoto, the randomness of his artistic gesture must be traced back to the historical period that the artist has lived and a series of factors, such as his education, his conception of life, his way of being.

First of all we must remember that Shozo Shimamoto is a samurai.

This legendary Japanese warrior is an expert in martial arts, with a culture very different from the western one; this figure has gone from pure and simple warrior, to a first political connotation and later a patron of the arts, in particular poetry, calligraphy and tea ceremony.
