The University of Pavia celebrated 650 years of foundation in 2011 of the General Studium by decree of Emperor Charles IV. Pavia was the scene of authentic breakthroughs in scientific knowledge, just think of physics, with the pile of Volta or to the medicine with the black reaction of Golgi, Nobel Prize in 1906. In the field of neuroscience we must remember the studies on the nervous system initiated by the Pavia medical school starting from the second half of the eighteenth century.
