He was a warrior of two tours of Vietnam and 20 years of war service to his country, and after knowing each other for years he married Christine, the love of his life.

Touring Australia as nomads - a passing shark took a snap at Roger, and the recuperation activities decided by Christine led to entering an Aboriginal co-op. With encouragement all round, he took up painting “like a blackfella”. The elders approved of him, and in a week of classes he was taught about backgrounds and colours and many other indigenous painting techniques. This was at a cost of $5 a painting, with the ultimate reward …..a new path in life
