Kandinsky's way of painting combines abstractionism and geometry, giving individual symbols a meaning related to life, to philosophy, to music.
In the "Point, line and surface", Kandinskij theorises the association between geometric shapes and colors:
•the triangle is a symbol of the divine and the color is yellow;
•the square is a symbol of the earth and the color is red; speaking of pictorial surface assigns to the upper line of the painting, the tension towards the sky, and to that underlying the tension towards the earth;
•the pyramid is a symbol of union between spirit and matter and therefore is the bearer of life;
•even the cross has the same meaning, as a synthesis of vertical and horizontal, masculine and feminine;
•the circle is considered the perfect form of the Platonic philosophy, it is the most spiritual figure and has the blue color.
