In one of Skrjabin's journals we read:

"The destiny of the universe is decided. I want to live. I love life. I am God. I am nothing. I want to be everything. I have generated what is contrary to me - time, space and number. I myself am that which is contrary to me, because I am what I have generated ... I want to be God ... The world is looking for God, I look for myself. The world is an impulse towards God, I am an impulse towards myself. I am the world. I'm looking for God, because I'm only what I'm looking for. My research begins and also my return: the history of human knowledge begins."

Shortly before dying, Skrjabin had designed a multimedia work that should have been performed in the Himalayas, on the theme of armageddon, "a grandiose religious synthesis of all the arts, intended to proclaim the birth of a new world " and merge all the seductions of the senses (sounds, dances, lights and perfumes) and it should have been "celebrated" in a hemispherical temple.
