Rana Plaza Tragedy

More than 1,130 workers died, with a further 2,500 injured, in this, the deadliest garment factory accident in history.

On 24 April 2013 the eight-storey Rana Plaza building collapsed in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The building contained numerous clothing factories, shops, apartments, and a bank. Cracks had appeared the day before, but warnings that the building should be evacuated were ignored, and the building collapsed during rush hour the following morning.
