The following text is a chapter from Mr
Svensson´s book „Cable-Stayed Bridges“. We
include this chapter 6.6.1. from this book
intentionally – about the Millau bridge and its
construction a lot of articles have been written
and translated into Czech, however, we would
like to show – most of all – what possibilities
are given to us by an electronic form of our
magazine.

THE MILLAU BRIDGE
Anotace
Abstract
Most v Millau překračuje údolí a řeku Tarn. Má
celkovou délku 2 460 m a skládá se z osmi polí:
dvě vedlejší pole, každé o délce 204 m, a šest
vnitřních polí po 342 m. Patří mezi nejvyšší
mosty světa.
The Millau Bridge crosses the valley and river
Tarn. It has a total length of 2 460m and
comprises eight spans: two side spans with
240m each and six inner spans with 342m each.
It belongs to highest bridges in the world.
Most byl realizován metodou postupného
vysouvání. Výstavba byla zahájena v říjnu 2001
a most byl otevřen pro veřejnost v roce 2004.
The bridge was realised by incremental
launching method. The construction started in
October 2001 and the bridge was opened for
traffic in 2004.

Most v Millau a most Rion – Antirion jsou
nejmodernější a nejvýznamnější příklady
vícepolových zavěšených mostů.
The Millau Bridge and the Rion-Antirion Bridge
are the most modern and most modern
