Ode to My Glasses

Nia Smith

Glass pieces fixed into rings,

the rings fixed into frames;

otherwise the image can't be seen so clearly.

They allow for inspiration to come across-

probably more then it wants to-

feeling too exposed as you place it in front of

your eyes.

Only allowing you to see the bigger size

of life itself.

Without you, I can’t see this joy.

I can’t see the exotic shapes and curves that are

for my viewing.

You are misplaced constantly by my wrongdoing.

And I apologize:

I never realized what a gift you bring to my eyes.

Now everyday I look forward to

the times that we will share.

I look forward to placing you upon the bridge of my nose,

waiting to see how life is with you,

allow me to see it.

Everyday I look forward to

placing you upon the bridge of my nose.

Waiting to see how life is the way you allow me to see it.
