The delicious singing of the mothers
Sink down to sobs at
The hands of their child’s fathers.
The fingers of justice are now turned to
The abuser and not the abused.
But isn’t she, too, America?
The strong melodious songs are sung
And are seen to represent the whole of their nation,
While the weak cries for mercy are
Silenced and invalidated.
So many songs are muted that some feel alone.
But this is about to change, because
The daughters, the sisters, the girlfriends,
The colleagues, the mothers, the wives,
Will harmonize their America
Until their--our-- songs are too loud to be ignored.
