where did you go this snowy november?
Edwina Burton
i can’t remember
a single holiday-filled november
that didn’t leave me wishing i had my glowing ember
the leaves fall
the nights crawl
and memories sprawl
a smiling face
a dreamy case
and a turkey baked
but you’re not here
and i fear
that the image of you in the kitchen
or sitting
in a living room chair
are all dreams that will fade into air
i can’t hear you putting up christmas lights
or holding me tight when I'm scared at night
grandma
why do i see you
why can't i hear you
where are you
where are you
where –
you’re gone
